Interphase

The cell prepares for division by growing and replicating its DNA. This is the longest phase of the cell cycle, where the cell carries out its normal functions and duplicates its organelles.

During interphase, the cell:

• Grows in size
• Replicates its DNA
• Duplicates organelles
• Prepares for cell division
